Three generations at the same tawa
The tiffin room opened in 1962 (sample) with four tables, one grinder and a coffee filter that's still in use.
What hasn't changed
The batter is still ground on stone every night. The coffee is still roasted in the morning. The meals are still served on a banana leaf, and rice and sambar refills are still free.
What has changed: you can now order on WhatsApp, we deliver within 3 km, and the dosa menu has grown from three to six. The grandmother who started it all approves of exactly four of them.
- 100% vegetarian. No egg, no meat, ever. Jain options on request.
- Hygiene you can see. An open kitchen, and an FSSAI licence on the wall (sample).
- Leaf, not plastic. Banana leaf and areca plates for dine-in and catering.
- Local suppliers. Vegetables from Mylapore market every morning.
